Very Excited

I was in the NEX and saw that they now carry Vera Bradley purses and I was estatic....because that means they are cheaper and no tax.  So I was pretty excited....but then it turns out that excitment was nothing compared to when Pam called me and told me they are building a TARGET about two minutes from my house!!!  I am sooo excited.  They are putting in a shopping center next to the Navy Exchange with Target, Starbucks, Jamba Juice, Ruby Tuesday,....which is cool because there aren't any restaurants that you don't have to fight traffic to get to.  So I am very very happy

So apparently we will save none of our extra deployment money

Happy Easter!
It doesnt exactly feel like Easter here, but that is alright. When you are far away from family nothing really seems like a holiday. Kevin and I had a pretty good weekend....despite both having to work on Saturday.  Today we drove around a part of the island we hadn't seen yet (hard to believe- I know) and that was really fun. Hawaii is so pretty - everyone needs to come see it.

Kevin leaves sometime this week/weekend for California for 3? 4? 5? weeks....we have NO idea when he is getting home which is frustrating.  And its frustrating because after this it is all downhill...before we know it he will be off in the sandbox...but such is life in the army.  We are hoping we will get home before then, in June or early July.  I really hope we can come home.  And then I will be here alone so visitors are more than welcome

So if anyone is curious about deployment from the homefront point of view you should read "while they're at war" by Kristin Henderson.  Its actually kind of upseting so if you get upset /worry easily (mom) you may not want to read it...but it is really good- it is quite a good glimpse into army life/culture, since it is definitely unique! And it is upsetting, but life is upsetting and war is ugly and the book is true.  But I definitely recommend it. Plus, if you are my friend, it will help you understand my life

But anyway.  I miss everyone lots. Aloha!

So it is raining harder than I have ever heard/seen in my life...and thundering like crazy.  And this is probably the 20+ day in a row or sometihng that we have had insane downpours.  And to make it worse, our part of the island isn't even the hard hit part.  It is crazy. Its been storming soo much which is extremely rare for hawaii, there have been tornados, and poor Kuaui had damns breaking and crazy flooding.  Plus, there was a shark attack on the north shore and they estimate the shark was large enough to SWALLOW THE GIRL WHOLE!!!  But she is fine, don't worry!  All the ocean water close to the coast is brown/black from all the run off and not so healthy to swim in.  So anyway, it seems like the world is coming to an end in Hawaii.

Other than that, life is fine.  Work is stressful right now for both Kevin and I, but thats nothing new really.  Although in the upcoming weeks life will be crazy....next weekend we have free, the next I have to work, then the next weekend Kevin will be getting ready to leave....then he will leave for three and a half weeks to go to CA.  When he comes back Mike and Kathleen will be here for a visit, which we are very much looking forward to, and then when they leave Kevin will leave for six more days of training on Hawaii.  Then it will be June.  That is INSANE!  Still no word on when Kevin is leaving for the sandbox or when/if we will be coming home.   Hopefully it will be in June or July that we come home. I have two huge work things July 4 and 7 and I am kind of scared that will be block leave time... I am worried I will get fired, but oh well.....

Well we miss everyone very much.  Keep in touch and let us know how you are doing!!!

Aloha
